3 Rounds For Time
800 meter Run Rest 1:1 400 meter Run Rest 1:1 200 meter Run Rest 1:1 *Score includes rest For this workout you will time each run and rest for the respective amount of time before you begin the next leg. For example, if you run the 800m in 5 minutes then you will rest 5 minutes before running the 400m. Continue this cycle until you have completed 3 full rounds. Sometimes you need to break routine and rest. Especially if you have been training really aggressively - pushing your body in strength gains or busting your tail with heavy cardio. Rest does not mean you lay around in bed or on your couch all day. This is not an excuse for laziness. Rest means taking a break from the grind. Some things I enjoy doing on a rest day are: hiking a new trail, going for a bike ride with my family, strolling through West Bottoms with my sisters, or stretching for the duration of a good movie! Don't neglect to give your body the ample amount of recovery that it needs. When you do this, it will thrive during your workouts!!
It's that time of year when I want something warm and soul filling for my belly at the end of the day. This chili does the trick for my family every time! Of course growing up I hated my Dad's chili! It had huge chunks of pepper and onion in it, which, as a kid, was disgusting to me. I may have even slyly flushed my helping down the toilet one time. . .maybe. Not anymore though! Not only that, my whole family loves this chili. . .probably because I dice my pepper and onion a tad bit smaller than dear old dad.
Dad's Chili (with a twist) What you'll need: 2 pounds ground beef 1 pound andouille sausage (our twist), cut in 1/2" chunks 1 onion, finely chopped 1 green pepper, finely chopped 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped 2 tablespoons chili powder 1 tablespoon salt 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce (1 tablespoon, sugar if I'm feeling frisky) 32 ounces kidney beans 32 ounces fire-roasted diced tomatoes In a large pot, brown beef with onion, pepper, and garlic. Drain off excess liquid. Stir in chili powder, salt, and Worcestershire sauce (and sugar if you are adding it). Once mixed together really well, pour in kidney beans and tomatoes. Stir to incorporate and heat through. The best thing you can do is let it stew for a few hours or even all day! This is yummy served with sour cream, shredded cheese, and, my favorite, sliced black olives!! Enjoy! For Time . . . Cardio Crusher
